About

Why this site exists

Official tools for finding an energy auditor are bare lists. Rebate programs close with two weeks' notice while half the internet keeps advertising them. And the big lead-gen platforms sell "energy audit" leads to solar and HVAC reps. Homeowners deserved a better front door, so we built one: this site for Canada, and audityourhome.com for the United States.

The rules we operate by

Only real auditors. In Canada, every provider we list is an NRCan-licensed service organization, whose registered energy advisors deliver the EnerGuide evaluations that rebate programs ask for; Ontario's Home Renovation Savings program further limits its assessment rebate to seven approved organizations, and every Ontario listing says whether it's one of them. On our US site, audityourhome.com, we point you to certified energy auditors (BPI professionals, RESNET HERS raters) and the utility and state programs that serve your area. We do not list contractors whose "free audit" is a sales pitch, and we say so out loud.

No pay-to-rank. Ordering favours transparency (published prices first) and community organizations — never payment. If we ever sell placement, it will be labelled as such, separately from organic listings.

How we make money. In Canada, advisors who opt in pay a referral fee for the exclusive homeowner requests we route to them — $40 per lead after ten free. It never affects which advisors we list or how they're ordered, each request goes to one advisor only, and you can always contact any listed advisor directly instead. On the US site there are no referral fees: we answer questions by email ourselves and don't pass your details to contractors.

Dated claims. Program facts carry the date we verified them against the official page — currently October 2, 2026. We list closed programs on purpose, because "still advertising the Greener Homes Grant" is the fastest way to spot a stale source.

Estimates labelled as estimates. The free plan's savings figures are ranges based on how similar homes typically perform, and the energy prices, usage benchmarks and savings ranges behind them are listed on the planner pages (Canada, US). A home energy audit of your actual house replaces them — that's the point.

Corrections are fast. Listings are compiled from public sources (linked on each profile). If something's wrong, email dave@clickshift.ca and we'll fix or remove it promptly. Providers can claim their profiles free.
